In
Simferopol for the first time took place the International Competition of the Quran Readers of the name of the Sheikh Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Subah.
As it informs on Wednesday the press-service of the Mejlis of the Crimean-Tatar people, in the competition which lasted from October, 24th, till October, 26th, in the Islamic Cultural Centre of Simferopol, participated 40 representatives from
Azerbaijan,
Belarus,
Dagestan, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan,
Moldova,
Russia,
Tajikistan,
Uzbekistan and
Ukraine, states "Interfax-Ukraine".
Competition was organized at the initiative of the all-Ukraine Association of Social Organizations "Аlraid" together with the World Islamic Charitable Organization (
Kuwait), the all-Ukraine Association of Social Organizations "Аlraid" (
Saudi Arabia) and the Religious Administration of Muslims of Crimea. Since 1993 the main sponsor of the competition is Princess Suad Al Subah.
During the competition its participants showed knowledge of the text of the Holy Quran at four levels: knowledge by heart of the whole Quran, a half of the Quran, a quarter of the Holy Scripture and the last three juz.
As the chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean-Tatar people noted in the reference to organizers and participants of the competition, the People's Deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev, carrying out of such grandiose action on the Crimean lands has both practical and huge moral value for Muslims of the peninsula. It reminded that
Crimea is a national territory of one of the Muslim people of
Europe where Islam, much to our regret, throughout more than two centuries was exposed to the most severe prosecutions.
"Once, thanks to existence of our state - the Crimean Khanate - in Crimea was more than 1,5 thousand mosques, operated numerous higher educational institutions, and a half-millennium ago was opened one of the oldest Islamic universities in Europe -"Zyndzhyrly medrese". However after the conquest of our territory by the neighboring state, started regular exile of the radical people from its native earth and destruction of its cultural wealth", the head of the Mejlis stated.
According to Dzhemilev, the most severe prosecutions against Muslims and regular destruction of Islamic culture in
Crimea were carried out after total deportation of Muslims of Crimea after the Second World War end. As an example testifying to level of cruelty and aggression of totalitarian mode concerning Muslims of Crimea, he reminded that on peninsula after deportation of the Crimean Tatars were destroyed even tombstones on Muslim cemeteries.
In his performance Dzhemilev also paid attention that from the moment of homecoming the Crimean Muslims were compelled to begin revival practically with zero. However thanks to energy of compatriots and support of the Muslim countries within the last 20 years it is done already much for Islamic revival in
Crimea.
"84 new mosques were built, restored from ruins, and 43 old mosques were returned. But it is necessary to make much more work. We should construct even more than a hundred of mosques, to raise level of knowledge of Islam among our compatriots, neutralize activity of various sects operating in our territory, misleading our people and sowing contention among Muslims of Crimea and discrediting our holy religion in the opinion of representatives of other creeds", Dzhemilev emphasized.
Participants and winners of the competition were also greeted by the Mufti of Muslims of Crimea Hadzhi Emirali Ablaev, the assistant to the constant representative of the president of Ukraine in Crimea Ibraim Mamutov, the rector of the Crimean Engineering-Pedagogical University Fevzi Yakubov, the vice-president of the Committee on Affairs of Religions at Ministerial council of Crimea Ayder Bulatov.
