A presentation of a new book of stories “A Gulp Of Fresh Air” by the young Crimean Tatar writer Mr.Bekir Ablaev printed on the last week of 2013 took place yesterday. The edition was printed at AUASO “Alraid” sponsorship within the framework of a Partnership Agreement, signed by the Association and All-Ukrainian Social Organisation “Dytynstvo” (“Childhood”) last April. The book was illustrated by Bekir’s talented herd mate from Donetsk, Ms.Iryna Movchan. “Alraid” team took care that the book was of good quality, and it’s design would match the young man’s previous editions in appearance.

In his short stories the author externates not only his childhood and teenager’s impression on school life, friends and family, but also records his elderly relatives’ and friends’ memories on deportation of Crimean Tatars to a distant Uzbekistan, exile hardships and long-awaited returning home.

Bekir is an award-winner at multiple international contests. He started writing his stories and essays when a child. his father, Mr. Abkerim Ablaev, the boy loved to spend his time with his grandfather, Abdureshit, and listen to his stories on Crimea’s pre-war life, World War II, deportations. It was his notebook where the boy wrote down his conversations with his grandfather that became his first attempt at writing, though they were published only in his second book “My Grandfather’s Stories”.

Bekir Ablaev belongs to the generation of Crimean tatars already born in Crimea. He drew his first breath in 1999 in the town of Nizhegorodskiy. When a schoolboy, Bekir started attending different coteries; Bekir is an award winner of different violin contests, and is fascinated with imaginative literature.

Later on, in 2010, he came out with his first stories, having represented them to a competent jury at a Junior Academy Of Science of Ukraine contest. “Timka’s adventures” were published in 2011. Young writer’s works (in Russian) are published in district, regional and Ukrainian newspapers; some of his stories are translated to Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar.

“A Gulp Of Fresh Air” is the fourth collection of the young man’s stories. Now he is working on his fifth book, and also collects Crimean Tatar tales and legends as basis for his future stories.
