Dr. Ismail Kady, Imam of the ICC mosque in Kiev, addressed the visitors at Friday sermon on August 24, 2012: “As Muslims and citizens of Ukraine, we have responsibility before the society we live in. If we can effect a change in the situation to the better and make our own contribution in the solution of any problem, we must do this! I’m calling each one of you today, in this Friday day and the Day of Ukraine’s Independence, to take part in free donation of blood”.
The charitable action of free donation of blood will be held in the Islamic Cultural Center of Kiev on Friday, 9.00 a.m., on August 31 2012. We call all who care to acquaint with recommendations and contra-indications in the instruction booklet compiled by “Alraid” in collaboration with the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Ummah”, and, once contra-indications are none, to join the action by sending own contact information (name, date of birth, cell phone number) on the on-line address donor@arraid.org.
The number of donors in Ukraine reduced twofold in the latest 15 ears. Now 95% of the donors are relatives and only 5% are active donors. Yet, the blood needs of the Ukrainian clinical health care have been met by only 17 to 25% of the norm adopted by the World Health Organization. These are bare figures, but one donation of blood may be enough to save three human lives.
Mr. Said Ismagilov, Mufti of “Ummah”, reminds Muslims about the warning of the Most High in his address opening the booklet:
“If any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people” (Koran, 5:32).
He says: “By helping to save a human from death through donor practice, we will make more benefit for Islam than we did for years by fine words about greatness and truthfulness of our faith. Eloquent speakers are many in numbers, but those who do good deeds are small. Words of a true Muslim, if coming from the heart, are always supported by great deeds.
Mind that Allah the Most High asks us in the Koran ‘O you who believe! why do you say that which you do not do? It is most hateful to Allah that you should say that which you do not do’ (Koran, 61:3–4). It’s a serious warning, and let it be heard by each sensitive and faithful heart”.
