"Al-Masar" Participates in Meeting by Invitation of Odessa Academy of Sciences

"Islamic Civilization and Wrong Imagination about Islam", this was the topic of a meeting which took place in Academy of Sciences where was invited Social Organization "Al-Masar" as a representative body of Muslims of the city of Odessa. Active workers and members of the Call Department of Organization Gazi Mustafa, Amzhad Beytar and Akata Yakovleva gathered at the same table with representatives of local authorities, well-known scientists and experts-orientalists with a numerous audience of University students.

Pressing questions about wrong interpretation of the term "jihad" in Islam, view of religion at such concepts as "terrorism" and "radicalism", and also the rights of the woman in Islam became the basic directions of the dialogue.

The head of the Department of Acquaintance with Islamic Culture Gazi Mustafa informed the present that Islam is religion of peace, mutual respect and solidarity. "Islam condemns hostility and any damage, made to any human being", he said. "Islam calls for harm elimination by peaceful means and, whenever possible, without the use of force. In the Islamic history since the times of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and up to now Muslims basically resisted to oppression [external aggression] and struggled for freedom by nonviolent and peaceful way", added Gazi.

Discussing not less exciting question on the rights of a woman, including a headdress of Muslim women – hijab, Akata Yahas noticed that the sense of a scarf in Islam consists exclusively in protection of a woman against encroachments on their honor. However, today hijab is wrongly regarded as discrimination and oppression symbol.

Association" Аlraid" initiates and takes part in numerous meetings, discussions and dialogues directed at education and mutual understanding of representatives of different religions and nations, and also promoting strengthening of peace and harmony in Ukraine.
