In the Kyiv Islamic Cultural Center, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayram), the Council of Ukrainian Muslims distributed meat donated by Muslims.

The 500 most vulnerable families received the so-called Kurban on this day. Funds for the purchase of sacrificial cattle were provided by the Council of Ukrainian Muslims, the Human Appeal Australia charity fund, the Syrian organization SDI (Social Development International), and the Palestinian organization "Good deeds".

The distribution began with the reading of surahs from the Koran, a joint prayer, and the words of the mufti of the RAMU "Ummah", Murat Suleymanov, who reminded those present about the significance of this holiday and the duties of the faithful:

“On the second day of Kurban Bayram, we usually distribute the meat of sacrificial animals to low-income families, orphans, the disabled, and families of [forced] immigrants. In Kyiv, several hundred families receive their share of the generosity that people share every year during the holidays.”

As Ismail Kady, the director of the Kyiv ICC, reported, 450 sheep and more than 15 bulls were sacrificed this time:

“Each low-income family received about 7 kg of fresh meat. When Ibrahim (Abraham, peace be upon him) was ready to sacrifice his own son to the Almighty as a sign of obedience to His will, Allah at the last moment replaced him with a sheep - that is why Muslims sacrifice livestock. The essence of this act is to be generous, sacrificial, devoted to Allah, and grateful for the straight path, the religion of Islam. For this purpose, the sacrificial meat is divided into parts: one is distributed to the in need, [one] is given to relatives, and only a part remains with the donor. <...> This year's donation was also joined by our Muslim brothers, foreign students who had to leave Ukraine due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.”
