On the eve of Ramadan – 2012 (1433 by hijra), the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Ummah” and the All-Ukrainian Association of Public Organizations “Alraid” invited, by tradition, theological scholars from other countries to Ukrainian Islamic cultural centers, to extend and enrich the knowledge of Ukrainian Muslims. Eight theological scholars came to Ukraine to stay in the Holy month with communities of the faithful in Ukrainian cities by the Association request and with support from embassies of the Saudi Arabia Kingdom and the Arabic Republic of Egypt, and wakf ministries of both countries. They are supposed to lead collective prayers, teach local Muslims to read the Holy Koran and deliver lectures.

Foreign guests are graduates of theological universities that have the highest merit across the Islamic world, Cairo University “Al-Azhar” and University of Medina; they represent traditional Islam and the idea of “vasatyya” (“moderation”, “balance”, “centrism”). Visits like this have been undertaken by the AAPO “Alraid” to extend the limits of understanding for Ukrainian Muslims and give them a chance to learn about approaches of various scholars to selected issues. Also, contacts with various sheikhs allow one to discover new facets even in common and seemingly well-known things, because each scholar tends to emphasize the aspect that he believes to be the most important one.

Two sheikhs from Saudi Arabia came to Ukraine on June, 19, 2012. Sheikh Muhammad bin Ahmad Addusary stays in Kiev, whereas Sheikh Sami bin Saliman Al-Mashikih went to Odessa.

Scholars from Egypt came to Ukraine on June, 20, 2012. Sheikh Mahammad Farid Al-Mursi Abdul-Al enlightens Muslims of Kiev; Sheikh Ramadan Abdul-Muhsin Faraj Said stays in Kharkov; Sheikh Rabia’ ‘Avis Marsuk Wahiba stays in Odessa; Sheikh Mustafa Ramadan Abdul-Aziz  stays in Vinnitsa; and Seikh Abdulhalak Aldul-‘Al Abdurrahim Halil stays in Donetsk.
