In
Simferopol took place the International Competition of the Quran Readersin which participated readers from the CIS countries –
Ukraine,
Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan,
Tajikistan,
Uzbekistan,
Azerbaijan,
Moldova,
Belarus and
Russia.

As it informs correspondent of UKRINFORM referring to Representation of the President of Ukraine in the ARC, the contestants showed knowledge of the text of the Holy Scripture of Muslims at following levels: knowledge by heart of the whole Quran, a half of the Quran, a quarter of the Holy Scripture and the last three juz (parts of the Quran).

In the congratulatory address directed to participants of competition from the name of the acting representative of the President of Ukraine in the ARC Victor Plakida it is stated that the competition of experts on the Quran "has huge value in spiritual life of Crimea - the native land for more than 120 nations and nationalities, each having its customs concerning religion".

According to Victor Plakida, in many countries of the world the tradition of carrying out of competitions, contests and meetings of the best readers of the Quran allows people to get acquainted closer with ancient Muslim traditions and to find mutual understanding between representatives of different cultures.

He also expressed confidence that "carrying out of similar competitions in
Crimea will promote spirituality, valid relation to each other, tolerance and adherence to universal values".
